Some traditions never go out of style, especially those stitched together with a little patience, a lot of creativity and generations of memories. Last weekend, the 35th Annual Stephen Foster Quilt Show, appropriately titled “Liberty in Stitches,” brought those traditions to life with a colorful celebration of quilting, craftsmanship and America’s heritage.

MADISON, Fla. – North Florida College (NFC) is now accepting applications for its new Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree program, set to begin Spring 2027. The program comes as Florida school districts continue to face a shortage of qualified teachers, particularly in elementary education.

Submitted - All in the community is encouraged to mark their calendars for Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24 for the Live Oak Garden Club’s Fall Bazaar. This event will be held from 8 a.m. To 2 p.m. at the clubhouse and will feature a HUGE plant sale and Indoor Yard Sale, a bake sale, pecan sale and much more. The plant sale features an array of trees, shrubs, perennials and hard-to-find herbs and medicinal plants. Learn what to plant this time of year! The Bazaar will take place at the clubhouse, located right between the hospital and Coliseum at 1300 11th St. SW.

Newly Designed Driver Licenses and Identification Cards
The new design showcases Castillo de San Marcos as the background image on the front of the card. Located in St. Augustine, Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest masonry fortress in the continental United States. Florida’s iconic orange is incorporated as the “O” in “Florida,” while the bottom left corner features the Florida manatee, one of the state’s most recognizable native species. The Florida alligator is also incorporated into the REAL ID star in the top right-hand corner of each card.

For most of his life, R.L. Chauncey has been a storyteller. He just never expected that one day he would become an author.
“I usually tell my stories face-to-face,” Chauncey said. “I’ve never used this kind of medium.”
That changed when a story he had carried around in his head for years finally refused to stay there.
